Training and Documentation Specialist

This person is part of the Knowledge, Support Services, and Compliance team and must have the ability to work with both internal employees and external clients. Strong communication and writing skills are necessary. This is a full time position and is eligible for benefits. Candidate should reside in or around Southeaster Massachusetts and have at a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Science.

Training Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and administers training programs for configured software and solutions.

  • Determines what content is critical to be communicated to employees, and trains internal employees on policy, procedure as well as application use.

  • Ensures information is current by deciding which items need to be changed or updated.

  • Facilitates classroom training and activities adjusting classroom activities according to audience needs.

  • Personalizes delivery of information for greatest impact while still conveying the intended information.

  • Partners with internal as well as external clients to design, develop, deliver, and measure customized solutions.

  • Works with leadership team to implement career and management development processes and program.

  • Maintains records of training activities and employee progress. Monitors and reports effectiveness of programs.

Documentation Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and revise documentation for product development, support services internal and external clients.

  • Produce clear and concise documentation for Integrated Packaging Management Software; a web-based, database-driven mission critical application.

  • Retrieve, organize, analyze, and synthesize complex subject matter and transform it into easy-to-understand information for specific audiences (Users, Administrators, Designers).

  • Participate in planning the design of software product documentation (ex. installation, operation, and maintenance instructions and other technical publications, such as technical data sheets, integration guides, process guides, etc.) and write documentation that conforms to best practices for writing, presentation, and editing standards.

  • Participate in the design and development of documentation presentation and distribution systems.

  • Create, apply, and revise templates as necessary adhering to specific Style Guide.

  • Interview subject-matter experts, attend project meetings, manage time, and recommend documentation improvements.

  • Protect intellectual property during development and dissemination of documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university.

2-5 years of experience with classroom delivery and training material preparation or equivalent combination of education and prior experience as a Trainer.

3+ years experience as a technical writer.

Experience with knowledge capture.

Proficiency with web applications, MS Office Suite, especially MS Word, and RoboHelp.

Strong product/technology/industry knowledge. Previous job experience in a high-tech industry desirable.

Exemplary technical writing skills and excellent communication and presentation skills.

Analytical ability and project management skills. Works well under time constraints.

Ability to travel (40%)
